About Us

Camp Cooriemungle is operated by the Oberin and Payne families, who have moved into the area from Melbourne where the families operated highly successful fitness training and landscaping businesses. The children from both families attend school at Timboon and Cobden. Both families are actively involved in outdoor sports and similar leisure activities. Everyone is settling well into the community with active participation in local community events in addition to the busy holiday camp life. Both families have made excellent use of their training and experience in related training, fitness, and well-being programs, and have added safe food handling qualifications to their essential camp operation expertise. The families are regular participants in local community committees, and action groups, and are also actively involved in a number of funded community-based programs designed to enhance the natural flora and bush environment of the camp surrounds.

The Oberin family

Nicole is a qualified personal trainer, and fitness expert who has participated in many triathlons and similar events. Nicole runs a number of programs for all ages and fitness levels as well as co-managing the camp's activities and programs with Charlene.
Brent has operated his own landscaping operation for 12 years and is a qualified landscaper with a Diploma in Horticulture. Brent's background in paving and all other aspects of landscaping includes experience Sustainable Gardening and native garden landscaping. He is putting this past experience to good use as the camp develops a new range of outdoor activities and exciting new features.

The Payne family

Charlene comes from a corporate background with extensive administrative experience, besides being a qualified personal trainer, specialising in children's fitness, health and fitness for expectant mothers, and general nutrition. Charlene is a great organiser and brings those corporate organisational skills to Camp management to complement her training and fitness skills.

Both families currently operate franchises relating to fitness programs for a diverse group of clients including expectant mothers, primary school-aged children, as well as pre-schoolers. All have relevant qualifications to operate every facet of camp activities, and have especially loved the high-ropes and giant swing components of their recent training program. They are also fully trained in running all aspects of canoeing activities, which every school group enjoys when they get their time on the camp’s lake. They have found that aspect of the outdoor activities is a total change from their former training and careers, and great for personal development, despite the challenges these particular activities presented to them when they first took up this great life.
